日本原産の植物であり、日本を代表する美しい花木の１つである椿 ( つばき )。
お茶の世界では、11月の炉開きから、翌年の炉塞ぎまでの晩春まで生けられる、最も代表的な花で、「一種」、「根締め」という高い格の茶花とされて、品格もあり、季節感を表すことのできる花としても、重宝、愛されています。

花言葉：控えめな素晴らしさ、気取らない優美さ

この作品は、佐賀鳥栖での企画展「私的日本集 第２話 筑紫 鳥栖」展で発表したものです。
「お茶花集」を構成する１作品として好評を博しました。
